Something About…

Sorry- we’re talking about computer chips, not Ruffles.  You might have seen the news that there’s a huge shortage of semiconductors, and that it’s effecting numerous industries from heavy duty trucks to cars and consumer electronics.  Thanks to Paul Holter from Plymouth Church (Ashton swag will soon be on its way!) for pointing out that this might be a good item to share with the crowd.

According to the BBC, reports of Instagram scams have increased by 50% since the outbreak of COVID. With over 100 million photos shared on the platform every day, it’s no wonder that the bad guys have decided to put some focus on Instagram users.  The company (owned by Facebook) has recently published a list of the eight most common scams.

It seems that an employee of the concessions and parking vendor at the old Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia lived in a concession stand inside the stadium.  That might actually have been kinda cool.  For a week or two. Reminds me of a former co-worker whose dorm room at Ohio State was actually inside Ohio Stadium.  Sadly, that’s no longer an option.

According to the FBI, Americans had over $4 billion stolen via cybercrime in 2020.  The most common ways were through phishing, non-delivery scams, and extortion.

LinkedIn data shows that Cleveland has been a popular place during the pandemic.  According to research, the Cleveland area ranks 5^th in new resident gain over the past year.  With our low cost of living and  affordable housing, this makes sense.

I can’t even come up with anything witty to say about this one.  But walnut smashing is evidently a thing.  Why on earth is this in my inbox?

This week’s real estate email listed properties in NYC, London, Ireland, Texas, and Aspen.  Since I still have skiing on the brain (until fishing season gets here), I figured I’d highlight the $75M property in Aspen.  Looks like a cool place, but for that kind of money, I’d expect the bowling alley to have more than just one lane.
