Thoughts From Abbott’s Inbox Feb. 6th, 2026

I imagine you’re either going to or hosting a Super Bowl party on Sunday (because 121.1 million Americans will be doing so), even if you’re only watching the game for the ads. You’ll also want to be your usual insightful self, which is all the more reason to scroll down for AI social media, London cabbies,”inseam” measuring, the Revolutionary War, and more.  Enjoy.

Something about ...

Moltbook

We ran into our favorite AI expert last night, and he got to telling us about the new AI agent he just created.  He even went so far as to give “Jared” his own phone number, so that he can talk and text with him. Lots of great ideas for our engineers in terms of how to add to the AI we’re already using both internally and for our clients.

Along those lines, you’ve probably seen something about the new social media network created by and for AI agents, called Moltbook (it was originally Clawed, but Claude AI took offense, so we have Molt). As if their own social media network wasn’t enough, the AI agents also created their own religion, called Crustafarianism.  No word yet as to dreadlocks among its members or their music of choice

Hippocampi

Cab drivers in London are required to pass a test to prove their knowledge of the city’s 25,000 streets.  They also need to know landmarks, routes, and points of interest.  New research shows that the process they go through to memorize and put all the knowledge to use might actually help reduce their likelihood of developing Alzheimers.

And if you want to go down a rabbit hole, there are lots more interesting maps on that website.

Ski Jumping

Ski jumping is one of those sports (like curling) that very few people pay attention to or even consider, unless it’s an Olympic year.  And I guess this one proves the old adage that “if you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t tryin'”.

I had no clue that ski jumpers suits could make such a big difference in how far they fly; according to research, adding one centimeter to the circumference of the crotch of a suit can add nine feet to the distance of the jump. And each competitor has to be measured to get their own distance from crotch to floor.

The Super Bowl

While I’ve never cared for Budweiser beer, I usually like their Super Bowl ads.  This year is no different.  And while I will drinking something other than Bud or Bud Light while watching the game, there’s a good chance that it’s a brand owned by Budweiser/Anheuser Busch/AB InBev

I’ve never really thought about how much the Super Bowl halftime performer(s) get paid for their time (I rarely care enough to watch halftime, other than when U2 played in 2002).  I guess it makes sense that it’s not very much, considering the number of eyes on them which generally leads to huge post-Super Bowl opportunities.

If you need some good Super Bowl ad trivia to impress the people at Sunday’s party, here you go.  Including the fact that the most-watched Super Bowl of all time was the Seahawks and Pats in 2015.  Think Sunday will be as big?

AI Revolution

Nancy probably won’t be thrilled that I have a new Revolutionary War show to watch. According to the article, while the voices are all those of SAG actors, the video is primarily AI generated.  Looks like it’s at least worth giving it a try.

Ransomware Mafia

A ransomware gang has decided to consider economies of scale as they fine tune their business model.  The figure that by pulling other ransomware actors into a cartel, it’ll make their extortion easier and more profitable. They’re offering members everything from branding kits to data‑valuation audits and negotiation scripts, and suggest that the old adage of “a rising tide lifts all boats” applies even to them.

In case you need ideas for what to take to your party, here’s a list of 59 Super Bowl appetizers.  Not sure who thought that five different cauliflower concoctions were necessary, but maybe they’re thinking you want leftovers. Yuck.

Curious to know your thoughts on Sunday’s game.  First person who picks the winning team and predicts the right score (or closest to it) wins some Ashton swag.  Send me your prognostications before Sunday’s 630PM kickoff.

Have a great weekend and Go Pats!

Abbey
